Unlike many Boudoir Photographers, Keepsake Photography offers an in-studio consultation a couple of weeks before your session. In my view it’s critical to hear client expectations and to have the chance to talk about lingerie styles, fabrics, cuts and above all what each woman feels sexy in. Sometimes it’s not the same as what her partner feels is sexiest on her but each woman can’t just do the session all for him, right? 😉 I think it’s worth it to take the time to have an open discussion about body image and what each woman sees in the mirror and how I can photograph her to make sure she is portrayed in the most gorgeous, sensual and sexy way.
During the Boudoir pre-shoot consultation I always tell women to make sure they don’t buy anything that they don’t feel 100% incredible in. What I mean by this is that is you try on a corset and it’s almost perfect but it flattens your chest a little too much… don’t buy it! I love the look of a corset…. very sexy, but they’re not for every body type. If you’re not feeling it, it’ll show during your session and will ultimately show in your images. When you try the right piece of lingerie on you should not want to take it off! Visit a place like Victoria’s Secret, La Senza, La Vie en Rose or better, a local lingerie shop in your area and get measured and fitted! SO worth it.
If you’re not a lingerie wearer, there’s SO many things to wear that aren’t lingerie that are incredibly sexy if you think a little out of the box. Tank tops, bathing suit cover ups, a low cut blouse, unbuttoned jeans, bra and panty sets, lacey top with nothing underneath, a bra covered loosely by a cardigan, your guys favourite sport jersey, dress shirt or tie covering you topless…. the list goes on. My advice is to think about what YOU feel sexy in and bring it. Sexy is more about attitude and expression than it is about what you wear!
