This Wedding of Kelly & Mike’s, surprisingly offered a couple of “firsts” for me.
It was the first time I’ve worked with a couple who whole-heartily embraced the day they were given and went outside for pictures. Yeah, that might not seem like it means much but… it was blowing snow and
it was really C O L D!! Kelly told me from the very beginning when we met that even though her Wedding was in the winter, she was determined to do photos outside. Not only that, we took the family photos outside too!
There’s a beautiful archway above the door to the Otter Creek Golf Club that was the perfect outdoor area for the Family pictures that a little protected so we didn’t have to be too far out in the elements.
Kelly and Mike had decided, as many couples do now, to have a private First Look together earlier in the day and get photos done in the daylight hours while having their Wedding Ceremony in the evening.
The Golf Club was beautifully decorated and just glowing at night in the tungsten light with candles and greenery. Slowly guests started to arrive, out of the snowy night. Almost everyone delayed due to the weather.
I had taken some time to head downstairs with the bride and groom to photograph them with grandparents and some girlfriends of the bride and when I got back upstairs a few minutes before the ceremony, I couldn’t believe how loud, raucous and fun the crowd had become.
That was my second “first”! Literally, the rowdiest bunch of Wedding attendees I’ve ever seen!! And in the BEST possible way. Everyone was chatting to each other, hugging and greeting the others, yelling and waving across the room. It literally took myself and the Wedding officiants, Tina N’ Mikey Dias about 15 minutes just to get everyone seated and quiet enough that we could start the ceremony! Haha…so fun.
Needless to say, the activity continued after the Wedding and long into the night. Kelly and Mike said it was everything they ever hoped for. The best day ever!
Here’s some of the fun!
