As some of you may have read, I’ve just returned from San Diego from an incredible Photography workshop on Boudoir Photography offered by The Boudoir Divas. The winter is a slower time for me, (being primarily a Wedding Photographer) and so I try to do a workshop or course every winter to improve my skills or explore other areas. Boudoir is something I’ve been thinking about offering for a while now but wasn’t sure where to start. Kimberlee and Marissa…(the QUEENS of Boudoir in the US) were so open and ready to share all of their tips and tricks. It was an amazing experience…my brain overfloweth!!
Boudoir is a trend that goes back hundreds of years, beginning with the master painters. IN the 40’s and 50’s, Pin-up Photography became a popular way for gals to remind their deployed husbands what was waiting back home. In current day, many women seek this type of session not just for a partner but for themselves. It can be a liberating and empowering experience.
What appeals to me most about this type of Photography is the chance to help show women how beautiful they are. Every shape and size!! We are all SO bombarded with advertising images and music videos that make us all feel like we are lacking in some way… or we can’t compete . We think we’re not as beautiful or we weigh too much. I feel it too, constantly.
Offering Boudoir, is a chance for me to help all women see that we CAN COMPETE!! We are all as “hot” or as sexy as any overly Photoshopped image we see anywhere!! *lol Seriously, the thing is to show my clients through the images we take that they are beautiful in every way. It’s something I am very passionate about and truly SO excited to be offering it very soon. 🙂 Key words to describe my approach are….. classy, tasteful, sexy, beautiful, soft, private and intimate portraiture.
